Jaime (Berkner) Borchert, age 48, of Sioux Falls, SD, formerly of Stockholm, SD, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025.

Private services are to be held at a later date.

Jaime Lynn (Berkner) Borchert was born on June 3, 1976, in Watertown, SD, to David and Donna (Lundquist) Berkner. She grew up on the family farm near Stockholm, SD, and attended school in Milbank, SD.

A proud graduate of Milbank High School, class of 1994, Jaime furthered her education at South Dakota State University, earning her bachelor's degree in 2007. Her passion for social work inspired her to pursue a master's degree at Sioux Falls Seminary, from which she graduated in 2014. Jaime married James Borchert, in July of 1995, and together they fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming a mother through the adoption of a son.

Jaime’s nurturing nature extended beyond her family; she had an immense love for animals, often rescuing stray dogs, cats, rabbits, and other furry friends. Her nurturing spirit was evident in her aspirations to become a counselor. Jaime tirelessly advocated for those unable to advocate for themselves. A creative soul, she enjoyed cooking, canning, and creating beautiful works of art, reflecting both her talent and her heartfelt expression of love.

Jaime cherished her time on the family farm, embraced the community spirit at the Twin Brooks Threshing Bee, and found joy in the simple pleasure of browsing through garage sales and rummage sales. Above all, she adored her family and friends, creating lasting memories filled with laughter, warmth, and love.

Jaime’s memory will be cherished by her many family members and friends and, her absence will leave a profound void in the hearts of all who knew her.

Preceding her in death were her mother, Donna Berkner; maternal grandparents, Kern and Inez Lundquist; and her paternal grandparents, Ralph and Erma Berkner.

Any cards, gifts, or condolences for the family of Jaime can be sent to Mundwiler Funeral Home and we will gladly forward them to the family.
