Isabel Tobin

October 22, 1912 — October 27, 2005

Isabel "Isie" Anne was born on October 22, 1912 in Chokio, MN to parents John F. and Anna (Leuthard) Grossman. Isabel grew up on the family farm near Chokio until 1934 when she moved to Ortonville, MN, where she met Emmett "Toby" Tobin. On February 24, 1936, Isabel was united in marriage to Emmett Tobin.



Together, Isie and Toby built Toby's Motel, the Hilltop Manor Mobil Home Park, and owned and operated Cashtown CafA�A� until Emmett's death in 1972.



Isabel loved to play cards and dance and also enjoyed baking, entertaining friends and family. She also enjoyed her daily brisk walk. Isabel belonged to the Circle group at St. John's Catholic Church in Ortonville and spent many hours volunteering at Northridge Residence and St. John's Catholic Church. Isie enjoyed her Prayer Group, Birthday Club, and her Red Hat Ladies.



Isabel was a very loving mother, sister, and grandmother. She will be deeply missed.



Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Knippen of Ortonville, MN and Sheila Fenlon of Eagan, MN, and Rosemary (Larry Penk) Tobin of Carlton, MN; two sons, John (Audrey) Tobin Faribault, MN and Tom (Paula) Tobin of Ortonville, MN; three sisters, Martha Summer of Chokio, MN, Agatha and Marie Grossman of Minneapolis, MN; one brother Clarence (Marie) Grossman of Chokio, MN; nine grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.



Preceding Isabel in death was her husband, Emmett; her parents; two grandchildren, Brian Holt and Amanda Tobin; three brothers, Vincent, Joseph, and Prim; one son-in-law, Bud Knippen; three sister-in-laws; and one brother-in-law.
