Harold Dimberg

April 22, 1926 — December 31, 2008

Harold Russell Dimberg, Jr. was born on April 22, 1926 at the Graceville Hospital to Harold and Gladys (Vandervelde) Dimberg. They lived on a farm near Clinton until Harold was 8 years old. They then moved to a farm south of Ortonville. Harold attended country school until the eighth grade and continued his education at the Ortonville High School. After graduation, Harold farmed with his dad and brother, specializing in Chester White Hogs.



Harold purchased a farm near Ortonville in 1950, and in 1953, he was united in marriage to Ellen Kothmann with whom he had four children: Harold III “Rusty”, Dawn, Alan, and Brian. Harold was a life long member of Tabor United Methodist Church and was active in several Chester White and hog organizations.



Harold worked for Occo Feed for over 25 years and then went with Form A Feed until he died. He also worked with Northrup King Seed for many years, as well as Border States Cooperative.



He enjoyed selling hogs, feed, and seed, growing flowers, traveling, fishing, bird watching, and especially visiting with his friends and grandchildren.



Harold died on Wednesday, December 31, 2008, at Northridge Residence after a battle with prostate cancer at the age of 82 years.



Harold is survived by his wife, Ellen; children: Harold “Rusty” Dimberg III of Ortonville, MN, Dawn (Bill) Beling of New Brighton, MN, Alan (Sharon) Dimberg of Woodbury, MN, Brian (Lisa) Dimberg of Chaska, MN; grandchildren: Rachel and Angela Beling, Nicole, Natalie, and Joseph Dimberg, Tyler and Derek Dimberg; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.



Harold is preceded in death by his parents; sister Amaryllis “Sister” Dimberg and brother Van Dimberg.
