Gwendolyn "Gwen" Biever, 92, went home to be with Jesus, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, May 22, 2025.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Big Stone Tabor Church in Big Stone City, SD. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Pastor Sandra Marquardt will officiate. Luncheon will follow in the church dining hall. We will depart from the church at 3:00 p.m. for burial at Milbank City Cemetery in Milbank, SD.
Gwen was a loving wife, mom, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, grandma, and great-grandma. With her beautiful smile and sparkling blue eyes, she was a wonderful friend and inspiration to many. Growing up on a farm near Butler, SD, she developed a love for the outdoors, family, hard work, and friendships.
After becoming a nurse, with a heart to help people, she impacted many lives along the way. She enjoyed her church activities and serving in other leadership roles, such as a school board member, state Future Nurses of America Director, and many other volunteer services.
She was a wonderful mother, raising two children, welcoming grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Gwen loved spending time hosting friends and family at their lake cabin on Blue Dog Lake, establishing a legacy of family, friendships, and wonderful memories of fun times spent together. She also loved music, she played the clarinet and keyboard, she also sang in the choir, and later in life loved attending concerts with her husband, Gene.
She is survived by her husband, Gene; daughter, Jan; stepsons: Chad (Julie) and Bryan (Jody); grandchildren: Brandon (Kellie); Blake (Brittany); Sarah; Samuel (Sarah); step-grandchildren: Tyra; and Bo; five great-grandchildren: Emma; Norah; Brecken; Bayleigh; and Beau; and many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
We are joyful to know that Gwen is now in Heaven, and reunited with her family members who have gone on before her. She is preceded in death by her parents: Adolph and Rose Wein; son, Billy “Bill” Markve; four siblings: Billy Wein; Calvin Wein; Coleen Gast; and Larry Wein.
Gwen’s faith, kindness, and compassion touched the lives of countless individuals, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
