Gordon "Gordy" Bolsta

Gordon “Gordy” Bolsta, age 67, of Big Stone City, SD, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, in Valley City, ND.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home Chapel in Milbank, SD. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday. Pastor Sandra Marquardt will officiate, and inurnment will be at Mound Cemetery in Ortonville, MN, at a later date.

Gordon Dale Bolsta was born in Ortonville, MN, on February 13, 1959, to Charles and Helen (Studebaker) Bolsta. He grew up in the Ortonville area, graduating from Ortonville High School with the Class of 1977. With a knack for diesel mechanics, Gordy continued his education at Alexandria Technical College after high school.

In 1980, Gordy met the love of his life, Patty Teske. The two were united in marriage on June 2, 1984. Together, they made their home in Big Stone City, SD, and were blessed with two children.

Gordy worked hard to provide for his family, starting his career at a local granite quarry before moving on to Bituminous Paving, Inc., where his dedication and expertise saw him rise to the position of Job Supervisor. He took pride in his work and was valued by colleagues and friends.

A man of many interests, Gordy was a die-hard fan of Minnesota sports—cheering passionately for the Vikings, Twins, and Gophers. He also spent countless evenings playing pool with friends, sharing laughs and enjoying the competition of a good game. For him, trips to Lake Ida were a highlight, especially when he could cast a line with family and friends by his side.

Gordy was a member of the Ortonville Methodist Church. He was known for his willingness to help those in need - whether it was fixing a neighbor's car or plowing out someone's driveway after a heavy snowfall. His big heart matched only by his quick wit and penchant for sarcasm, which endeared him to all who knew him.

Most importantly, Gordy cherished the time spent with his grandchildren. They brought him immense joy, and his face lit up at the mention of their names. He will be deeply missed by those he leaves behind.

Gordy is survived by his wife, Patty Bolsta; his children: Ryan (Tiffany) Bolsta; and Emily (Ben) Eustice; six grandchildren: Caleb Bolsta, Evan Bolsta, Seth Bolsta, Nathan Bolsta, Clara Eustice, and Ellie Eustice; sister, Cherrie (Duane) Wosniak; along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Glenn Bolsta, and Grant Bolsta in infancy; and parents-in-law: Donald and Betty Teske.
