Genevieve Enger

November 13, 1913 — December 31, 2011

Genevieve Enger, age 98 of Ortonville passed away December 31, 2011, at Northridge Residence.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Abiding Faith Lutheran Church in Ortonville. Pastor Richard Larson will officiate and burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be at the church prior to the services. Tim Mundwiler will be the vocalist.

Genevieve K. (Kohoutek) Enger was born November 13, 1913, near Lidgerwood, ND. She was the daughter of Charles and Frances (Chezik) Kohoutek. She grew up in Ledgerwood where she graduated from high school. After attending the State School of Science, Wahpeton, ND she worked for the Movius Insurance Agency until moving to Fargo where she worked for the Internal Revenue Service. During World War II she served in the United States Navy Waves for eighteen months, then back to the I.R.S.

Genevieve was united in marriage with Reuben E. Enger in 1946, in Fargo. Their working years were in Fargo until Reuben retired from the I.R.S. in 1972. They moved to Lake Melissa, Detroit Lakes, MN and spent the winters in Mesa, Arizona. Due to Reuben's health they moved back to Fargo in 1992. Reuben passed away in 1996. Genevieve and her son, Eddie moved to Florida in 2001, then to Alabama in 2004. They moved to Ortonville in 2007, and have since resided.

Genevieve Enger is survived by her son Edward Enger of Ortonville, MN and her daughter, Rosanna and husband Michael Callahn of Amarillo, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, and six brothers.
