Franklin "Frank" Allen Renner, age 83, of Milbank, South Dakota, formerly of Dassel and Kingston area passed away at the Avantara Milbank Nursing Home in Milbank, South Dakota.
A memorial service will be held on a later date in Milbank, South Dakota with another service to be held at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Dassel. Inurnment will be at the Cokato Finnish Cemetery in Rural Cokato. There will be a time to gather with the family one hour prior to the service at the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel. The Presentation of the flag and military salute will be handled by the Kingston American Legion.
Franklin Allen Renner, the son of Cornelius and Gayle (Byrant) Renner was born on August 30, 1940, in Powers Lake, North Dakota. He grew up in North Dakota and in December of 1951, at the age of 11 the family moved to Dassel, Minnesota, eventually settling in Kingston, Minnesota in 1966. When he was 17, he enlisted in the Airforce from (February 1958 until February of 1964). He was stationed in Rapid City, South Dakota. After the service, he moved back to the Kingston area.
Frank was married to Rose Taina in 1972, where he became a stepfather to Christine and Jody and became a father to his son Bradley and daughter Jillann.
Frank was a welder his whole life. He worked for four years at Swartz manufacturing in Cokato. He then went to work in Plymouth at Garlock Manufacturing from May of 1979, until his retirement in June of 2006.
Frank was remarried in June of 1997, to his wife Nancy (Blair) Danielson. They were married for 26 years. They lived in Dassel, Kimball, and Kingston until they decided to move to Milbank, South Dakota in 2007.
Frank enjoyed life after retirement by working in his garage, doing woodworking or you would find him in the yard doing yard work, planting flowers, or feeding the birds. Frank enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Twins. He had been a member of the Kingston American Legion for many years.
Frank is survived by his wife, Nancy; his children: Chris (Perry) Cates; Jody (Allen) Anderson; Bradley Renner; and Jillann Renner; step-children: Connie Koskinen; Patrick Blair; Kelly Blair; and Shelby Blair; siblings: Jesse (Rita) Renner; and Shirley Nelson; sister-in-law, Leeann Renner; 17 grandchildren and step-grandchildren; 1 grand-cat; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Cornelius and Gayle Renner; brother, Charlie Renner; sister, Myrna Hayden; brother-in-law, Jim Hayden; nephew, Chad Renner; and great-grandchildren: Gus and Troy.
