Elizabeth "Betty" Hausauer

Betty Hausauer, age 93, of Ortonville, MN, passed away on May 30, 2022.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 9, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Big Stone City, SD. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church in Big Stone City. Inurnment will be in Mound Cemetery in Ortonville followed by a luncheon at the parish hall.

Elizabeth Veronica Hausauer was born on January 17, 1929, to Walter and Paulina (Gasperlin) Rau, in St. Anthony, MN. She attended Catholic grade school in Richmond, MN, and graduated as Valedictorian of the Class of 1947 at Eden Valley High School. Betty worked part-time as a telephone operator in Richmond during her junior and senior years of High School. Betty married Gilbert Harmening in 1948. Their daughter Patricia was born in 1949. Gilbert and their son Michael died in 1951.

Betty moved to Ortonville, MN, in 1952, and worked at the Ortonville Telephone Company. She worked there for 30 years. In 1957, she married Dale Hausauer in Ortonville. Betty and Patti never missed an opportunity to go pheasant hunting with Dale. Dale passed away on October 3, 2003.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Patti Stangeland of Ortonville, MN; sisters: Lucy Kockx of Clear Lake, SD; Irene Switajurski, of California; brothers: Raymond (Sherrie) Rau of Arizona; Walter (Lucy) Rau, of Sauk Rapids, MN.

She was preceded in death by her husbands: Gilbert and Dale; brothers: Arnold, Werner, Arthur; sister-in-law, Vera Rau.
