Graveside service for Dr. Charles Leonard Kargleder will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at St. Charles Cemetery in Big Stone City, South Dakota. Father Daniel Wolfgram will officiate. The family will gather for fellowship following the service in the Community Room at the Super 8 Motel in Milbank.

Dr. Charles Leonard Kargleder, a 72 year-old native of Milbank, SD, and a longtime resident of Mobile, AL, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2012.

Dr. Kargleder served as a professor of foreign languages at Spring Hill College for 49 years where he was a past department and division chairman. He received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of South Dakota and his Master's Degree and PhD from the University of Alabama.

He cherished his time with his family and the camaraderie he shared with his friends. Dr. Kargleder was an avid supporter of the Crimson Tide and loved to read.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Leonard and Ruby Gulck Kargleder.

Dr. Kargleder is survived by his siblings: Eugene Kargleder (Delores), Shirley Kargleder, George Kargleder (Barbara), and Mary Bekele (Abye); dear friends: Charles and Barbara Slaughter, Joel and Fran Warm, and Warren Morey; and nieces and nephews: Betsy, Sarah, Marcus, Ryan, Leah, Rachel, and Renee.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Chapel on the campus of Spring Hill College on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Thursday, May 24, 2012, from 5 – 8 p.m. Interment will be in St. Charles' Catholic Cemetery in Big Stone City, SD at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Spring Hill College Campus Ministry.
