Dorothy Miller

Dorothy (Pennie) Miller, age 85, of Ortonville, MN passed away on February 16, 2013, at the Fairway View Living Center.

Family Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 24th at 4 PM. A Public Prayer service will be held at 7 PM at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank. Burial Service will be Monday, February 25th, at 10 AM. Music will be provided by Tim Mundwiler. Casket bearers will be Steve, Doug, Greg, Ross, Drew, and Jason Miller.

Dorothy Jeanne Miller was born January 13, 1928, in Sioux Falls, SD. She was the daughter of Fredrick W. and Florence A. (Clague) Pennock. She attended Washington High School in Sioux Falls and later attended Grinnell College, graduating in 1949. She was united in marriage with Ervin Neil Miller on June 12, 1950, in Sioux Falls, SD.

The couple moved to Milbank in 1951, where she taught in Milbank Junior High School as an English Teacher until retiring from teaching. The couple later moved to SoDak on Big Stone Lake in 1993, where they lived together until Neil passed away in 2005. Dorothy moved to the Fairway View Living center in Ortonville in 2007, and lived there until her passing on Feb 16th, 2013.

Dorothy loved teaching English to her students in Milbank Junior High, and is fondly remembered by all those who were in her classes. She also loved to travel, and coaxed her husband, Neil, into taking her to many interesting locations. She enjoyed sewing and cross stitching after her retirement and was generous with her time and talents to her friends and family.

Left to cherish her memory are her three sons: Stephen Miller of Sioux Falls, SD, Douglas (Robin) Miller of Farmington, MN, and Greg (Lara) Miller of Lafayette, IN; seven grandchildren: Ross Miller of Vermillion, SD, Drew Miller of Dickinson, ND, Robb Miller of Presque Isle, ME, Jason Miller of Clearwater, MN, Mindy Poland of North Pole, AK, Ryan Miller of Los Angeles, CA, and Larissa Hardesty of Lakeland, FL.; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, and four sisters.
