Dennis Maher

October 24, 1945 — April 18, 2013

Dennis Maher, age 67 of Milbank, formerly of Clinton, passed away April 18, 2013, at Golden Living Center in Milbank.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 20th at 10:00 a.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank. Father Gary DeRouchey will officiate.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Tim Mundwiler will be the vocalist and guitarist. Burial will be at a later date at the St. Mary's Cemetery in Beardsley.

Dennis William Maher was born October 24, 1945, in Luverne, MN. He was the son of James and Margaret (Lais) Maher. He was baptized at St. Anthony's Parish in Lismore, MN and confirmed at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Beardsley, MN. Denny attended school in Beardsley and was a graduate of the Beardsley High School class of 1964.

After graduation, Denny chose to serve his country and enlisted in the National Guard. He served for six years. In 1968, he was united in marriage with Barbara Smith, and to this union three children were born.

Denny worked various jobs before accepting employment at Dakota Granite Quarry and made this job his career, working there for many years. Denny and his family lived in Corona, SD, later moving to Milbank where he raised his family. He was an avid sportsman and also enjoyed watching all sports. Denny remained in Milbank until his health caused him to move to the Clinton Care Center in July of 2012.

Dennis Maher is survived by his three children: Jennifer Anderson of Benicia, CA; Jonathan (Lorena) Maher of Sioux Falls, SD; and Patrick (Melanie) Maher of Sioux Falls, SD; 8 grandchildren; three brothers: James Maher of Beardsley, MN; Michael (Deb) Maher of Clinton, MN; Thomas (Lori) Maher of Beardsley, MN; four sisters: Jean Maher of Sun City West, AZ; Joan (Fran) Hoffman of Payson, AZ; Marice Lane of Brainerd, MN; Kate Maher (Ron Kadera) of White Bear Lake, MN; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and a true friend, Rhonda Wellnitz.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters: Karen Untinen, Colleen Sullivan, and Marlene Maher.
