Dennis Kellner

November 11, 1946 — April 8, 2018

Dennis Kellner, age 71 of rural Big Stone City, died April 8, 2018, at his residence on Big Stone Lake.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank.  Rev. Tim Rynearson will officiate.  Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, one hour prior to the service.  Casket bearers will be: Benjamin Kellner, Joseph Kellner, Robert Kellner, Nathan Kellner, Brian Meuwissen, Charles Keeler, Gerald Seurer, and Steven Ahles.

Dennis Lyle Kellner was born on November 11, 1946, in Benson, MN.  He was the son of Lyle and Ione (Sylvester) Kellner.  Dennis grew up in Benson and graduated from Benson High School with the Class of 1964.  He continued his education at University of Minnesota, Morris.  He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Philosophy.  While in college, Dennis played college football and golf.

Dennis served in the United States Coast Guard, Air to Sea Rescue in Miami, FL.  He returned to Minnesota and worked in finance for 40 plus years.  Dennis  built a home on Big Stone Lake in 2003.  He retired in 2016.

Dennis adored and cherished his family, especially his eight grandchildren. He taught them to waterski and loved spending time with them. He was a loving husband, father, and grandpa.  He always looked out for his little brother!  Dennis loved to hunt and fish.  He was an avid golfer in his younger years.  He was a kind and gentle man, always willing to help others.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Edith of Big Stone City, SD; step-daughters: Brigette Fronk of Brooklyn Park, MN; and Bonita Martinson of Chatfield, MN; sons: Benjamin (Megan) Kellner of Plymouth, MN; and Joseph (Deborah) Kellner of Mound, MN; one brother, Robert (Nancy) Kellner of Benson, MN; eight grandchildren: Dustin Fronk, Jordan Fronk, Karly Martinson, Evan Martinson, Maxwell Wiegand, Leif Kellner, Levi Kellner, and Adeline Kellner; as well as other relatives and many dear friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
