Delores Street

Delores Street, age 95, passed away peacefully with family members present on Monday, April 20, 2026. 

Memorial services will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at American Lutheran Church in Milbank. Pastor Justin Neugebauer will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at American Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Revillo Cemetery.

Delores Irene Jensen was born on February 22, 1931, to Ray and Edith (Strain) Jensen, the second of five children, and lived her entire life in Grant County, SD. She attended Vernon #5 Elementary School through eighth grade, then attended Revillo High School. She was active in academics and band, and graduated as Valedictorian in 1949. She married the love of her life, Stanley Street, a young farmer, and shared 70 wonderful years of marriage as true partners together on the farm and in Milbank.

Delores enjoyed baking and cooking for her family, holidays, and events. She had dozens of cookbooks and several boxes of recipe cards at her home in Milbank. Her hobbies and interests included gardening, reading, music, puzzles, bowling, bridge, needle work, and crocheting projects including prayer shawls. She was a church organist and pianist for 64 years, starting at age 14 on a reed organ at the Congregational Church in Nassau, MN. She also played for the Albee, Marietta, and Milbank Congregational Churches.

Delores was active in the Half Century Homemakers Extension Club for over 50 years. As a youth, she participated in 4-H and took her bread baking skills to the State Fair. She was involved again while her daughters were in 4-H.

Delores enjoyed her work as a teacher’s aide and business manager at Grant-Deuel School in the 1970’s and 1980’s.

Stan and Delores had a cabin for nearly 40 years on Lake Cochran. The family gathered there, as well as, many others who visited during the summers. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren enjoyed spending time there with Grandma Delores. They enjoyed cooking, baking, playing cards and board games, and learning to water ski with Grandpa Stan.

Delores is survived by her sister, Lucille Johnson; brother, Wayne (Margaret) Jensen; children: Susan (Larry) Wagner, Margaret Sawyer, Emily Tollefson, Edward (Jennifer) Street, and Richard Street; grandchildren: Aaron (Denise) Wagner, Eric (Jody) Wagner, John (Alex) Sawyer, Anna (Matt) Sawyer Mclean, Brandon (Michelle) Sawyer, Melanie (John) Taylor, Lance (Tracy) Granquist, Jennifer (Ross) Granquist Meacham, Jeremiah Street, Christa Street, Leah (Dillon) Layton; great-grandchildren: Kain Wagner, Conner (Britt) Wagner, Brandi (Jason) Wagner, Austin Wagner, Emma Wagner, Ellie Wagner, Jason (Hunter) Gonzales, Johnny (Alex) Gonzales, Nora Sawyer, Zachary Taylor, Ashlyn Taylor, Madison Taylor, Ursula Sawyer, Soren Sawyer, Brailen Mclean, Olivia Mclean, Abbie Granquist, Logan Granquist, and Sofie Layton; great-great grandchildren: JJ Gonzales, and Jaxson Gonzales.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws; her husband, Stanley Street; sisters and brothers-in-law: Carol and Glen Holtz; and Norma and Virgil Moser; brother-in-law, Duane Johnson; and son-in-law, Rick Tollefson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Delores’s name to Friends of Grant County Library.
