Delhart Anderson

Delhart Anderson, age 87, of Ortonville died Friday, September 23, 2016, at Northridge Residence.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at First English Lutheran Church in Ortonville with Rev. David Tonn officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, at Mundwiler and Larson Funeral Home in Ortonville with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Thursday one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held on Saturday, October 1, at 11:00 a.m. in the Clinton City Cemetery.

Music will be provided by Kathy Haukos, organist. Full military honors will be provided by the VFW Big Stone Lake Post #3964.

Casket bearers will be: Dave Alberts, Darrell Gillespie, Verl Gillespie, Mike Whempner, Art Stahn, and Gary Sigler. The urn bearer will be Dave Alberts.

Delhart Warren Anderson was born on May 20, 1929, in Stevens County, MN, to Harry and Emma (Anderson) Anderson. He grew up on a farm south of Chokio, attending country school through the eighth grade. In 1952, Delhart was drafted into the United States Army where he served during the Korean War until his honorable discharge in 1954.

In 1956 Delhart returned home and began farming 10 ½ miles south of Chokio. Farming was his passion and he was blessed to have been able to do so until his retirement in 2003.

On May 13, 1972, Delhart was united in marriage with Elvira Lee. The couple resided south of Chokio until 2009 when they moved to Ortonville. Most recently, Delhart was living at Northridge Residence in Ortonville.

Delhart was a member of First English Lutheran Church. He also belonged to the VFW Big Stone Lake Post #3964 and the American Legion Gertje Van Lith Post #229. He enjoyed the outdoors and took pleasure in fishing, gardening, and hunting for pheasants, deer, and geese.

Delhart is survived by his wife, Elvira Anderson of Ortonville, MN; one brother, Norman (Mary) Anderson of Milbank, SD; four sisters: Joyce Gillespie of Ashby, MN; Jane Gillespie of Clinton, MN; Susan Wohlers of Graceville, MN; Bonnie (Tom) Connelly of Sparta, KY; three sisters-in-law: Barb Anderson of Ortonville, MN; Connie Anderson of Ortonville, MN; and Wilma Anderson of Clinton, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers: DeWillis, Jerry, Dick, and Larry.
