David A. Rudebusch

David A. Rudebusch, 69, of Milbank, SD, and formerly of Summit, SD, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Avantara in Milbank, SD. 

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Ortley Free Lutheran Church in Ortley, SD. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday. Pastor Ken Flaten will officiate. Burial will be in the Ortley Cemetery near Ortley, SD.

David Allen Rudebusch was born on April 5, 1956, in Webster, SD, to Robert and Ramona (Knopf) Rudebusch. He grew up on the family farm near Ortley, SD, and graduated from high school in Waubay with the Class of 1974.

On April 19, 1986, Dave was united in marriage with Donna Marquardt in Twin Brooks, SD. They were blessed with five children: Steve, Josh, Matt, David, and James.

Dave worked for many years as a parts salesman for Case IH throughout South Dakota and Minnesota. In 1992, the family moved to Summit, SD. In 1997, Dave began working for the City of Summit in maintenance, where he remained until his retirement in 2013. Dave and Donna moved to Milbank in 2022 and lived happily there until his passing.

Dave was very active in the Ortley Free Lutheran Church, serving for many years as either President or Vice President. He also loved the outdoors and spent much of his time fishing and hunting with family and friends.

David is survived by his wife, Donna of 39 years; sons: Steve (Marie) Rudebusch of Mellette, SD; Josh (Ashley) Rudebusch of Ortley, SD; Matt (Tracy) Rudebusch of Peever, SD; David (Courtnie) Rudebusch of Milbank, SD; and James (Jennifer) Rudebusch of Watertown, SD; grandchildren: Jasmine, Alex; Harmony; Wesley; Emma; Clara; Olivia; Hanna; Walker; and Kinsley; sister, Julie (Lloyd) Kranz of Kranzberg, SD; and brother, Robert (Jean) Rudebusch of Wahpeton, ND; sisters-in-law: Pam Rudebusch of Watertown, SD; and Judi Rudebusch of Corona, SD; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Robert and Ramona Rudebusch; sister, Susie Rudebusch; brothers: Larry Rudebusch and Rick Rudebusch;  parents-in-law: Albert and Alice Marquardt.
