Curtis Victor Anderson of rural Big Stone City passed away at St. William's Nursing Home in Milbank, SD, on February 2, 2024.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ortonville, MN. Rev. Zachary Voss will officiate. Burial will be at Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

The funeral will be live-streamed, recorded, and viewable below this obituary.

Curt was born on December 3, 1940, in Ortonville, MN, to Victor and Gladys Anderson. He grew up on the family farm northwest of Ortonville with his brother, Boyd, and sisters, Lola and Phyllis. He attended country school until 8th grade, then graduated from Ortonville High School in 1958. After graduation, Curt joined the Army National Guard and went to basic training in Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

Curt worked construction with his uncle, Hugo, for the next several years building houses in and around the Clinton area. As the years went by, he eventually started farming with his dad, Victor, on the family farm. On September 18, 1965, he was united in marriage with Phyllis Mae Mueller of Bellingham, MN. They moved onto the family farm northwest of Ortonville. Curt and Phyllis had two boys, Dean and Dale, and lived there for the next 40 years.

In 2005, Curt and Phyllis built a new house on Big Stone Lake, near Schmidt’s Landing, outside of Big Stone City. Curt did most of the work on the house himself with some assistance from family from time to time.

Besides farming, Curt also worked construction in Ortonville. He worked for Hasslen Construction Company, and later for Lumberg Construction Company.

Curt enjoyed spending time gardening with friends, making wine, playing with the grandkids, hunting, skiing, fishing, and woodworking. He was also a long time devoted and disappointed Vikings fan.

Curt is survived by his wife, Phyllis; sons: Dean (Lois) and Dale (Amy); grandchildren: Skyler (Andrea), Gabriella, Jesse, and Justine (Ty); and sisters: Lola Voeltz and Phyllis Biedermann; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Victor and Gladys; and his brother, Boyd.
