Carol Nicholson

Carol Nicholson, age 74, of Milbank, SD, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at the Wilmot Care Center.

No formal services will be held at this time.

Carol Faye Nicholson was born on June 16, 1950, to Carl and Elsie (Gustafson) Schneck in Ortonville, MN. She attended Kilborn Country School #6 and later graduated from Corona High School in 1969. Following high school, she pursued further education in Watertown, SD. Carol married Robert Nicholson, and they were blessed with son, Derrick.

After completing her education, Carol began working at Milbank Mutual, where she dedicated 15 years of her career before health issues led to an early retirement. Despite this setback, Carol continued to work part-time at Milbank Glass in Milbank for over two decades.

Carol loved playing cards at the local community center and also enjoyed attending local meat raffles. However, her greatest joy in life was spending time with her beloved grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Carol took immense pride in being a grandmother and cherished every moment spent with them. 

Carol is survived by her son, Derrick (Joett) Nicholson of Milbank, SD; one grandson, Sean Nicholson; one granddaughter, Morgan Nicholson; sister-in-law, Lavonne Schneck of Milbank, SD; as well as nieces and nephews: Becky Rittenbach, Barbara Polkinghorne, Sandra Konshak, Sherry Norbeck, Tony Schneck, Keith Schneck, and Gary Schneck.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Carl and Elsie Schneck; her brothers: Harlow, Victor, Harold, and Donald Schneck; her nephew, Wayne Schneck; and her dear and special friend, Douglas Hinton.
