Carol (Bear) Dahl made her journey to the Spirit World on September 22, 2021, at the age of 72.
Funeral services for Carol will be held on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Agency Village, SD. Fr. Charles Chan will celebrate the service at burial will be in St. Mary's Episcopal Cemetery.
Carol Jean (Bear) Dahl was born on August 2, 1949, in Sisseton, SD, to Jonah T. and Mary (Wilson) Bear. Her maternal grandparents were Louis Wilson and Rose Trudell. Her paternal grandparents were Ida Irene Robertson and Andrew P. Bear, Sr. Carol was a descendant of two chiefs: Standing Buffalo, a hereditary chief of the Sisseton Band; and Wabasha I, a hereditary chief of the Mdewakanton.
Carol graduated from Sisseton High School in 1969. Shortly after graduation, she went to work for the United States government in Chicago, IL, as a secretary for the United States Navy. Carol later went to cooking school in Albuquerque, NM. After living in New Mexico for a time, she returned home to the Sisseton, SD, area.
On October 12, 1973, Carol was united in marriage with David A. Dahl. To this union, five children were born: Thomas, Kathryn, Brenda, Florence, and Barbara. Carol had one son, James Bear, with his father, Martin D. Bernard.
Always a hard worker, Carol worked in various industries until she retired in 2007, due to health issues. She worked for the longest time at Landsberger Foods in Sisseton before the business was purchased by Schiltz Foods. Carol also worked at Custom Polymer, Polytec, and for a short time, Fiskars in Wheaton, MN.
Carol was loved by all who knew her. Some of her favorite hobbies included: doing word finds, cross word puzzles, and expressing her artistic side in adult coloring books. Carol also enjoyed listening to Classic Rock and Contemporary music.
Left to honor her memory are her husband of 47 years, David A. Dahl of Rosholt, SD; her children: James L. Bear, Thomas A. Dahl, Kathryn I. Dahl, Brenda A. Dahl, Florence E. Dahl, and Barbara E. Dahl; five grandchildren: Amy N. Pearson, Daniel R. Pearson, Anna M. Pearson, Kitana Dahl, and Makaya Dahl; along with many other relatives and friends.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; maternal grandparents; and paternal grandparents.
She will be missed so much.
