An Irish Wake and Visitation will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. CST at the American Legion in Browns Valley, MN. Brian would want everyone to celebrate together and be joyful in his honor. He will be missed so very dearly.

Brian Kelly Agar was born at the Wheaton Community Hospital, Traverse County, MN, on November 5, 1959. He was the youngest of eight children born to Dwayne C. “Dan” Agar and Agnes M. “Peg” (O’Neill) Agar. He spent his entire childhood in his nearby hometown of Browns Valley, MN, where he also completed his elementary, middle, and high school years, graduating in 1978. His dad passed away just three weeks prior to his graduation on May 3rd of that year.

Brian was multifaceted in his interests, skills, and accomplishments during his high school career. As early as his freshman year, he participated in choir, track, and wrestling, and lettered in football. As he progressed through high school, Brian went on to join the student council and even became a multiple-time homecoming candidate. An incredibly skilled athlete and revered teammate during that time, Brian not only went to the state tournament for wrestling, but also consistently guided the football team to multiple championships. Sadly, Brian's athletic career ended prematurely due to a serious injury on the football field with a broken femur his senior year; though this changed his collegiate path, it also opened up his pursuit of other passions into college.

Brian went on to attend the University of St. Thomas, College of Arts and Sciences in St. Paul, MN, graduating in 1983, with a bachelor's degree in Art. While he was a brilliant and talented artist, starting in 1987, Brian still spent most of his working career in business as an entrepreneur and President of his company, Pulse Marketing. Pulse Marketing was a Natural Products Brokerage focused on homeopathics, health products, and natural foods. He led many small brands to become nationally recognized as best in their class and was extremely dedicated and honorable in only representing the cleanest of products, ensuring he could be proud of what he put on the shelf for consumers. Brian spent many years on the road, traveling amongst his broker team and visiting his stores throughout the Midwest. Through this, he had colleagues and customers that became friends all over the country and world. Earlier in his young career, Brian did Business Development for AssureCare and was also a Sales Manager for Armstrong & Associates Insurance Services.

As a forever lover of music, during his younger adult years Brian also worked part time as a bouncer at First Avenue where he was able to enjoy countless incredible musicians like Prince, The Replacements, R.E.M., and U2. After that, he continued to share his love of music. Whether it was belting it out with the car windows down or at a local weekly Karaoke night, Brian shared his amazing voice. He'd dance, smile, and laugh, singing as loud as he could while everyone cheered along. His joy he shared with others in this will be remembered and missed.

Brian met Janet LePage in 1985, and two years later, Brian’s only daughter, Courtney Elizabeth Agar, was born. Brian and Janet went on to share a long-term relationship where he was also a stepdad to Janet's son, Chris LePage. The family would make their home primarily in the Twin Cities suburb of Eden Prairie, MN, close to Brian’s headquarters for Pulse Marketing. One of the highlights of Brian’s life was walking his daughter, Courtney, down the aisle for her wedding in Lake Como, Italy, in June of 2024. It was surely one of the proudest moments of his life.

Brian will probably be best remembered for his enjoyment of time spent with family and friends. He was an extrovert to the -nth degree and it seemed the world was filled with friends who knew him and enjoyed being with him. In hanging out with Brian, one would have the experience of having his full attention like you were the most important person in the world at that moment. Simultaneously, he would also be the life of every party, telling jokes and some of the best stories for a crowd for hours. His ability to capture and recall details for sharing later was uncanny and kept everyone entertained. He had a cherished place in his heart for our immediate and extended family, and it was extremely important for him to carry on our family’s traditions and always be present for any special events like reunions, weddings, and funerals. Also, Browns Valley, his hometown, remained a very special place to Brian, and he loved traveling back in late June every year to see his friends during the annual alumni weekend.

Brian will also be remembered as being extremely politically active and passionate, not being afraid to confront what he believed was wrong. He used his voice to advocate for many things such as the fight to finding cures and bringing about long-term health and wellness vs. drug dependency. This passion also showed up in his life’s work with Pulse Marketing, bringing homeopathic solutions to the market. Brian was a forever learner, history buff, and savant in his ability to learn and recall. He was extremely intelligent, and his brilliant, educated, and articulate mind that offered new ideas to so many will be missed. More so, though, for so so many that knew and loved him dearly will miss his big heart, empathy, and integrity.

Brian is survived by his daughter, Courtney and her husband, Doug Wood, of Scottsdale, AZ; and step-son, Chris (Tammy) LePage of Eden Prairie, MN; four brothers: Dennis (Peg) Agar of Minnetonka, MN; Richard Agar of Naples, FL; Dannel (Lynn) Agar of Golden, CO; and Tim (Jason) Agar of Rockville, MD; 15 nieces and nephews: Hele, Angie, Marc, Mike, Dan (Dennis), Christina, Cassandra, Brady and Alex (Rich), Dave, Tammy, Stacey, Shawn (Dave), Briana, and Kyle (Dannel); 27 grand-nieces and nephews; and a great-great-niece and nephew; as well as numerous, beloved cousins, friends, and business associates.

Brian was preceded in death by his father, Dan in 1978; his sister, Kathleen Louise in 1984; his mother, Peg in 2008; two brothers: Fr. Tom Agar in 2009; and Dave Agar in 2013; his sister-in-law, Dave’s wife, Penny Agar in 2009; and his nephew, Charly in 2019; both of his maternal and paternal grandparents; and numerous aunts and uncles on both sides; as well as several cousins.
