Beverly Kaufman

December 24, 1927 — January 30, 2017

God took home one of his special angels on January 30, 2017. Beverly Louise Kaufman, 89, of Ortonville, loving wife and special aunt, died peacefully surrounded by her family and special friends after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Big Stone City, South Dakota. Visitation will start at 9:30 a.m. at the church.

Beverly was born December 24, 1927, in St. Paul, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Gus and Ella (Carlin) Bunting of Milbank, South Dakota. Beverly attended Milbank High School and graduated in 1946. She married Ervin W. Kaufman on November 5, 1951. They were blessed with a special relationship for 64 wonderful years. When her sister-in-law died in 1959, she and Ervin opened their home and hearts to her three children.

Bev worked as a sales clerk in clothing and jewelry stores for 35 years, where she enjoyed meeting and helping people. She was a long time resident of Grant County until moving to Ortonville, Minnesota in 2015. Bev was a lifelong, faithful member of the Catholic Church. She was also a member of American Legion Auxiliary for over 60 years. An active and giving woman, she volunteered for numerous local charity organizations.

Bev and Erv truly enjoyed their time together – whether farming, caring for each other, dancing, or visiting with friends and family. She enjoyed children, hunting, fishing, reading and walking. Above all, what was important to Bev was creating a loving and nurturing home for Erv and also for Jim, Dan, and Nancy. Bev will be dearly missed.

Cherishing her memory are her special niece and nephews: James C. Greer of Des Moines, IA; Daniel G. Greer (Annette) of Deer River, MN; and Nancy L. Greer Steinhoff (Woody) of Hartford, WI; numerous other nephews and nieces; and many special friends.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Gus and Ella Bunting; husband, Ervin Kaufman; numerous aunts and uncles; nephews and nieces; and special friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Rice Hospice or Big Stone County Cancer Support Group in her name.
