Beatrice Homan, age 83, of Ortonville died Wednesday, February 11, 2015.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 14, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Ortonville with Father Jim Devorak celebrating the Mass.

Visitation will take place from 5-7 p.m. Friday, February 13, at Mundwiler and Larson Funeral Home in Ortonville, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the time of Mass at the church on Saturday. The urn bearer will be Dale Homan. Honorary bearers will be all of Beatrice's grandchildren. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery.

Beatrice Homan, 83, of Ortonville, MN went to be with her Heavenly Father on Feb. 11, 2015, surrounded by her loving children and Eugene, her husband of 64 years.

Beatrice Mae (Saxton) Homan was born March 6, 1931. She was the daughter of William and Lyda (Echternach) Saxton and was the oldest of six children including Verle, Merlyn, Leroy, Darrel, and sister, Elaine.

Bea received her education in Beardsley, MN and was a cheerleader at the Beardsley High School for 4 years. After graduation she worked in St. Paul as a stenographer and bookkeeper in the credit department for Lewis F. Dow Co.

Beatrice was baptized and joined the Catholic religion in 1949. In 1950 Bea married Gene Homan at the Catholic Church in Beardsley, MN. They made their home in Minneapolis and St. Paul for about two years and then moved to a farm near Graceville, MN, where they lived for 13 years. In 1965 they moved their family to Ortonville.

Seven children blessed their marriage: Sandra, Michael, Dale, Allen, Le Anne, Carrie, and Craig. Bea was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, taught 1st grade CCD classes for 9 years as well as special Ed classes. She was a 4-H leader and also a Cub Scout leader (3 years) while her children were growing up. Bea loved spending time out in the yard and keeping up her home. She loved people and had many good friends.

She was an avid card player and enjoyed playing bridge. Bea also enjoyed golf, bowling and traveling. She loved to travel with her husband… (A couple of her favorite big trips were to Hawaii and Europe). She really loved camping and RV trips and for several years they enjoyed spending a couple of months each winter in Arizona and Texas.

Beatrice worked with husband, Gene, at their businesses. They owned and operated: The Cove, Apartment Houses (16 unit Apt. Bldg). She was an artistic lady who loved to do crafts and oil painting. She enjoyed gardening, music, dancing. She also liked to collect dolls and small antique items - shopping was her favorite past time.

Beatrice was a loving wife and devoted mother. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Le Anne Marie; firstborn son, Michael Eugene (Becky); her great granddaughter, Hailey Ann; as well as her brother, Leroy (Darlene), and her sister, Elaine Witte.

She will be remembered by her husband, Gene, of Ortonville; her children: Sandy (Brad) of Big Stone City, SD; Dale (Mary) of Ortonville, MN; Allen (Marcie) of Auburn, PA; Carrie (Tom) of Corcoran, MN; and Craig (Shannon) of Blaine, MN; her many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and her three brothers: Verle (Phyllis) Saxton of Arizona; Merlyn (Nina) Saxton of Johnson City, TX; and Darrel (Marcie) Saxton of Lake Whales, Florida.
