Barbara Kelzer

Mass of Christian Burial for Barbara Kelzer will be held on Wednesday, July 16, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Ortonville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass at the church. Father Jack Nordick will officiate and Pat Kunz and St. John's Choir will provide music.

Barbara Ann Kelzer was born on September 25, 1937, to Neal Fredrick and Dolores Marie (Cornelisen) Brown in Ortonville, Minnesota. She graduated from Ortonville High School. On October 1, 1955, Barbara and Norbert Kelzer were united in marriage at St. John's Catholic Church by Father Campell. To this union six children were born. Barbara was a life long member of St. John's Catholic Church.

In her free time, Barbara enjoyed playing cards, shaking dice, scratch tickets, and trips to the casino. She liked family picnics and going for rides around the lake. Barbara frequented rummage sales, always loving a good find! She found pleasure in her flower garden and decorating for the holidays. Most of all, Barbara cherished any time she spent with her family.

Barbara died on July 11, 2014, in Ortonville, Minnesota, having reached the age of 76 years, 9 months, and 16 days.

Left with her loving memory is her devoted husband of 59 years, Norbert of Ortonville, MN; children: Pat (Azim) Sheikh-Taheri of Redmond, WA; James (Michele) Kelzer of Brandon, SD; Richard (Penny) Kelzer of Brookings, SD; Dori (Gareth) Homan of Odessa, MN: and Robert (special friend Niki Saxton) Kelzer of Ortonville, MN; 13 grandchildren: Amin (Barbara) Taheri, Amir Taheri, Aanya Sheikh-Taheri, Joshua Kelzer (special friend Ashley Robinson) Nicole Kelzer (Fiance Randy Kock), Jacob Kelzer, Jessica Kelzer, Sydney Kuhnert, Abby Kuhnert, Baylee Kelzer, Raimi Kelzer, Emmy Kuhnert, and Christian Kuhnert; three great-great grandchildren: Kiara Taheri, Kamina Taheri, and Jayce Kelzer; sisters: Norma Jean Burdick of Ortonville, MN; Kay Brown of Milbank, SD; and Mary Ellen Nitz of Ortonville, MN; and brother Neal (Rosemary) Brown of Ortonville, MN.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; mother and father-in-law John and Susan Kelzer; infant daughter; two Sheikh-Taheri infant grandsons; granddaughter Hailey Homan; and infant sister Dorienne.
