Milbank

Audrey Mogard, 85, of Milbank, SD, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2024, surrounded by family at AdventHealth in Littleton, CO.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank. A prayer vigil will be held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday, one hour prior to the Mass. Padré Dav’id Garza will celebrate the Mass, and interment will be at St. Lawrence Cemetery in Milbank.

Audrey Marie Albrecht was born on February 15, 1939, in Milbank SD, to Bernice Albrecht. Audrey was a pillar of love and dedication to her family, friends and community. 

Raised in Nassau, MN, Audrey graduated as the valedictorian of her class from Marietta High School. In 1957, she married Elton Mogard, with whom she was blessed with six children. She dedicated 40 years of her life to St. Bernard’s Hospital, where she was known as a jack of all trades, working in the business office, Purchasing Agent, CNA, and after going back to school, and achieving her LPN license, she worked as a surgical nurse. 

Audrey’s passions included spending time with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events, canning, gardening, spending countless hours in her flower beds, and caring for others. She also loved visiting with friends, going out for coffee, playing cards with family, attending gatherings as part of the Red Hatters group and praying the rosary daily. 

A parishioner of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Audrey was involved in many groups, including the Catholic Daughters of America. She was also a talented singer and a member of both choirs at St. Lawrence. 

She was preceded in death by her mother, Bernice Albrecht; her husband, Elton Mogard; her daughter, Barb Giessinger; her grandchild, Jason Giessinger; and her greatgrandchildren: Brett and Hunter Tillman.

She is survived by her children: JoAnn Tillman (Duane); Steve Mogard; Carol Boffa (John Rashid); Roger Mogard (Kathy); and Nancy Claussen. Audrey was a proud grandmother to: Eric Tillman; Sara Johnson; Kari Finberg (Jake); Nikki Mettler (Chuck); Christopher Mogard (Hannah); McKenzie Aguilar; Ryan Oliver; Nichole Jacobs (Ty); Ashley Franco; Harrison Mogard; Cali Claussen; Kaitlin Claussen; and Cole Claussen. She also leaves behind 12 cherished great-grandchildren. 

Audrey’s legacy continues through her surviving family. Her warmth, dedication, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
