Arlene Larson

June 30, 1928 — December 24, 2013

Arlene Mae Larson was born June 30, 1928 in Milan, MN. to Alfred and Dorothy (Glemmen) Peterson. She was baptized at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan. Her family moved to Detroit Lakes, MN and then to a farm in rural Clinton, MN. Arlene was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton. She attended District 57, country school and graduated from West Central School of Agriculture of Morris, MN in 1945.
Arlene married Johnny H. Larson on December 7, 1946 in Clinton. They were blessed with births of three children. Her family lived most of her adult life on the farm. Arlene and family moved to Apple Valley Orchard and resided there for twenty years before Johnny and she moved to Stephens Avenue in Ortonville in 2004 and then to Fairway View Senior Apartments in 2008. Arlene became a resident of Northridge Residence in October 2013 and passed away on December 24 having reached the age of 85.
Arlene combined her homemaking tasks with work outside the home at various businesses including: Floyd Lundell, Appleton Cafe, and Northridge Residence in the dietary department. She was active in her church through; teaching Sunday school and Bible School along with serving in Ladies Aide, LCW and WELC. In addition to the love of raising her children, Arlene enjoyed cooking, canning, embroidery, crocheting, painting on cloth, birds, flowers & house plants. She was a charter member of Diversity Homemakers Club and also a member of Lakeside Extension Homemakers Club. Arlene loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are her: husband-Johnny of Ortonville; children-Rosemary (Neal) Brown of Ortonville, Marcella (Don) Lilleboe of Pelican Rapids, MN., and Larry (Susan) Larson of Boise, Idaho; grandchildren- Martin (Rachelle) Brown, Laura (Jim) Laub, Julia Brown, Shira Wilson (Chris Doyle) and Sasha Larson; great-grandchildren-Carter, Isaac and Addison Brown and Harvey Larson-Silvert; sisters-Sonja Athey, Shirley Brown and Phyllis Cravens.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents.
