Luella "Lolly" Marie Walker

October 14, 1912 ~ January 8, 2018 (age 105)


Services will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at Fairway View Neighborhood Orpheum in Ortonville. Rev. David Tonn will officiate. A private burial will take place at a later date.

Luella Marie “Lolly” Bundtzen Snyder Walker was born on the family farm in Corona, South Dakota, on October 14, 1912.  She passed to her eternal home on January 8, 2018, at Orton’s Crossing Neighborhood, at Fairway View, Ortonville, MN.  She attended country school until the 8th grade and worked for her room and board for 3 years at Milbank High School.  She graduated from Ortonville High School in 1930.

Lolly lived a very interesting and colorful life.  She had a winsome personality, was a hard worker, but fun loving and well-liked by all.  She was fortunate to work in Milbank at Shad’s Bakery and then JC Penney’s throughout the Great Depression.  She moved to southern California and worked at Northrup Aircraft as a real “Rosie the Riveter.”  In 1943, she moved to Minneapolis to assist in a family crisis and stayed in the Twin Cities for over 50 years.  She worked at Dayton’s Fine Pictures and Mirrors for 40 some years.  Her skills in sales gave her the opportunity to work with upper class persons and artisans alike.  While in Minneapolis she was involved in many civic and church activities.  Lolly worked for may years as acting Head Voting Judge in her local precinct.  She loved making quilts, and often volunteered serving the poor and homeless at Central Lutheran Church.  After moving back to Ortonville in 1986, she became active in Day of Love at First English Church.  Lolly also loved to dance!   

She is survived by her niece, Margie Karow (Joe) Faulkner of Midlothian, Texas; plus, eight grand-nieces; and one grand-nephew.

Lolly was preceded in death by her parents: Henry C. and Margie A. Shrader Bundtzen; brother, Donald; sister, Frances; brother-in-law, Frank Karow; niece, Suzanne Karow Stee Rios; nephew, Bradley Karow; husband, Vincent Snyder; husband, Charles Walker; and dear companion, Earl Komis.  She had numerous cousins and friends in the area, almost all have gone before her. 

May Light Eternal rest upon her soul.
