Joyce Strube, age 92, of Milbank, SD, died on September 17, 2019, at St. William’s Care Center.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 28, at 11:00 a.m. at Living Word Lutheran Church in Milbank. Pastor Kent Groethe will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date in Mound Cemetery in Ortonville, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church in Milbank on Saturday.
Joyce was baptized at Sillurerd Lutheran Church in Balaton, MN. She attended country school at Burchard, MN, until 4th grade. While her parents lived on the farm, Joyce moved into Balaton, MN, to live with her aunt and uncle, Edna and Martin Mattson, and cousin, Charlotte Zamzow. During her freshman year in high school, her parents moved into town and she was able to live with them. She graduated from Balaton High School in 1945.
On October 12, 1947, Joyce married Delton D. Silberstein. To this union, four children were born: Kathryn, Linda, and Delton Gail Jr. all in Tyler, MN, and Keeta in Ortonville, MN.
Joyce married Arno (Dick) Strube at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ortonville on August 21, 1982. Dick passed away in 1996. Joyce moved to Milbank in 1998.
She loved flower gardening, cooking, animals, the Bible, traveling, all of her children and grandchildren, and visiting her many friends and family members.
Joyce is survived by her three daughters: Kathy (Don) Higgerson, Linda (Tim) Toner, and Keeta (Al) Pavlinac; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Silberstein; eight grandchildren: Christy Calder, Chad Johnson, Tiffani (Eddie) Kim, Ben Toner, Rachel (Dean) Silberstein, Samual Silberstein, William (Sunny) Erwin, and Albert (Ana Thyne) Pavlinac; one great-grandson; beloved cousins; and the entire family of Warren Dahlgren, who she had the joy and happiness of being able to spend 17 years with; and Dick Strube’s family.
She was preceded in death by her parents: George and Mildred; son, Delton Silberstein Jr. in 1984; husband, Dick Strube; her very special soulmate, Warren Dahlgren; and “Spike.”
Blessed be her memory and may she now rest in peace.
