Iris Loraine (Pruno) Bunting was born on October 9, 1928 in Osceola, WI. She was the daughter of Clarence and Amy (Paulson) Pruno.
Iris was united in marriage with Gerald “Jeff” Bunting on October 9, 1946, in Watertown, SD. They lived on a farm west of Albee, SD from October 1946, until October 1948. The family then moved to a farm southeast of Milbank, known as the “Old County Farm”. The couple resided there for the remainder of their lives. Jeff and Iris celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last October. Jeff passed away earlier this year at the age of 96.
Iris and Jeff were blessed with four children: Sandra, Linda, Kevin, and Todd.
Iris was a busy homemaker and worked for 19 years as a cook at the Milbank Middle and High Schools. Iris could usually be found with Jeff, helping with the animals, fencing, and farm work. She enjoyed being outdoors, and always kept busy! Iris was also there to spend time on the farm with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They often would find something to get themselves into trouble! Her family will treasure the memory of their “super mom” – a lovely, caring, and loving lady.
Left to cherish her memory are her four children: Sandra (Dale) Wellnitz, Linda (Randy) Melham, Kevin (Kristi) Bunting all of Milbank, SD, and Todd (Laura) Bunting of Douglas, WY; seven grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Luvilla Weber of Milbank, SD, and Corrine Bliven of Ferndale, WA; two sisters-in-law: Maxine Heiller of Temecula, CA and Wauneta Schwandt of Milbank, SD; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Clarence and Amy; her husband, Jeff; grandson, Rob Edison; and her sisters: Alice, Elaine, Gladys; and brother, Curt.
