Dorothy Diane Jackson

June 24, 1939 ~ April 17, 2018 (age 78)

Dorothy Jackson, age 78 of Milbank died April 17, 2018, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 20, at 11:00 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church in Milbank.  Rev. Thom Bowsher will officiate.  Visitation will be held on Thursday at Mundwiler Funeral Home from 5 – 7 p.m.  A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.  Visitation will continue at the church on Friday, one hour prior to the service.

Dorothy Diane Jackson was born on June 24, 1939, in the family home in Marvin, SD.  She was the daughter of Hakon S. and Mavis O. (Kohn) Nielsen.  Dorothy attended country school at Mazeppa #1, rural Marvin and completed the eighth grade.  She attended high school in Milbank and in South Shore.  She was united in marriage with Don Wiseman in 1956.  They were blessed with five children.  Dorothy was later united in marriage with Bob Jackson.

Dorothy worked at several different places, each of which she excelled.  She was a great cook and owned T.B. Café.  She worked at Big Stone Canning Factory, Clarkdale Nursery, and in the kitchen at State Auto Insurance Company.

Dorothy and Bob enjoyed traveling to many different places. Bob died in September of 2008.

Dorothy loved horses and enjoyed horseback riding.  She enjoyed attending horse races.  She loved to play cards and enjoyed trips to the casino.  She watched the game show channel as often as possible.  She always had “something up her sleeve” and was a great jokester.  She had a gift to make others laugh.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Cindy (Tim) Larsen of Twin Brooks, SD; Doug (Tina) Wiseman of Kentucky; Kenny (Dawn) Wiseman of Milbank, SD; Blaine Wiseman of Milbank, SD; and Brian (Cyndi) Wiseman of Twin Brooks, SD; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; special friend, Alvin Pies of Summit, SD; siblings: Lois (Ron) Borns of Twin Brooks, SD; Joyce (Wally) Norby of Bellingham, MN; and Roy (Dianne) Nielsen of Marvin, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Hakon and Mavis Nielsen; husband, Bob Jackson; daughter-in-law, Kathy Wiseman; granddaughter, Kirstin Wiseman; great-grandsons: Hunter and Brayden.
