Delores (Wenskaug) Bengtson was born on January 8, 1928, in Dawson, MN, to Ole and Selina (Vashus) Wenskaug. She graduated from Marietta High School. Delores married Paul Bengtson on June 14, 1947. They farmed in the local area until 1966 when they moved to Big Stone City. Delores worked at Frigo Cheese for 13 years and after retirement, she started babysitting. Delores also cleaned businesses and often recruited family members to help her. But first and foremost, she was a mother no matter what time of day or night.
Delores was a member of Tabor Methodist Church since 1966. She was active with ladies’ circles and helping with flower shows. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Topps (weight loss group) for many years.
Delores grew a wonderful flower garden, enjoyed reading, enjoyed listening to music (especially Alan Jackson), adored all children, and loved spending time with her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Sharon Wieber of Milbank, SD; Warren (Janice) Bengtson of Coon Rapids, MN; Bonnie (Wade) Swezey of Ortonville, MN; Cindy (Rodney) Bublitz of Watertown, SD; Paul (Diane) Bengtson of Washburn, ND; and Tami (Jeff) Deering of Sioux Falls, SD; daughter-in-law, Pat Bengtson of Isanti, MN; 23 grandchildren: Lisa, Sheila, Jeremy, Becky, Bobby, John, Phil, LaDonna, Barb, Travis, Heath, Amanda, Lance, Christy, Amy, Mike, Jon, Zac, Suzy, Chris, Sarah, Chad, and Cory; 38 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding Delores in death are her parents; husband, Paul in 1997; six sisters; one brother; son, Dennis; and sons-in-law: Mike Loy and Arnold Wieber.
