Stanley Serocki

October 10, 1922 — September 20, 2010



Stanley P. Serocki, the son of Frank and Caroline (Piechowski) Serocki, was born October 10, 1922 in Browns Valley, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Browns Valley, MN. He attended country school outside of Browns Valley, MN and later helped his father on the farm.

Stan enlisted in the Merchant Marines and served on a ship transporting war materials. After his honorable discharge he worked in Minneapolis, MN with a factory making shells for the Army. He also worked at Minneapolis Moline Machine factory. He then returned to his home on the farm and took over his father’s farm. He was united in marriage to Hilda McCallum in 1960. They continued to farm on Stan’s farm north of Beardsley. Hilda died July 13, 1990. Stan continued living on the farm until his move to the Browns Valley Health Center.

Stan was known for driving around checking fields and neighbors and doing this got the nickname “neighborhood watch”. Stan enjoyed going fishing with his nephew John, and grand-nephew Dillon. He loved talking with friends and grand-nephew Dillon who was a frequent visitor.

He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, and Beardsley Legion, August Altlheide ALP #302.



Stan died Monday, September 20, 2010 at the Browns Valley Health Center in Browns Valley, MN. He will be missed by all his family and friends.

He is survived by sisters, Lucille Hammarsten of Browns Valley, Mary (Don)Palmer of Greenwood, WI, Teresa (Larry)Meyer of Fargo, ND; brothers, Jim (Marion) Serocki of Thorp, WI, Gene (Gladys) Serocki of Traverse City, MI, Larry (Rose) Serocki of Browns Valley, MN; many nieces and nephews; step-children, John, Nancy, Helen, Jane and Jean.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Hilda, step-sons, Ott McCallum, Marsh McCallum, and Tom McCallum.
