Shirley Goodhart

April 5, 1940 — April 26, 2008

Shirley Lorraine Anderson was born in Madison, MN, on April 5, 1940, to Hjealmer and Emma (Monson) Anderson. Shirley was baptized in Madison, MN, and later confirmed in Nassau, MN. In 1945, her family moved to rural Milbank, SD. In the early 1950's her family moved to Ortonville. She attended country school at Vernon #1, south of Big Stone City, SD, and high school in Ortonville.



Shirley married Jim Goodhart on June 25, 1960, and they were blessed with two sons, Scott and Todd. They resided in Ortonville for a few years, and then moved to Big Stone City, SD. Jim passed away on May 24, 1990 and Shirley continued to reside in Big Stone City until 1996 when she decided to move back to Ortonville. Shirley was employed as a housekeeper at Northridge Residence for 4 years and then with Schreiner's Law Office for 12 years.



Shirley enjoyed baking and sharing her 'goodies' with numerous people. She enjoyed gardening, and being with her family and friends. Working with the Twin Brooks Threshing Show was another passion, and she has been a member of it since 1991. Shirley's true love was doing things with her granddaughters, Katrina and Beth.



She is survived by her two sons, Scott (Becky) Goodhart of Detroit Lakes, MN, and Todd (Karen) Goodhart of Milbank, SD; one sister, Clarice Schnaser of Ortonville; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rosella (Roger) DeCamp of Chokio, MN; two granddaughters, Katrina and Beth Goodhart; as well as many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lillian (William) Goodhart; sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn (Ken) Kotwitz; brother-in-laws, Merlyn "Mert" Schnaser, and Luverne Goodhart
