Roger Paulsen

August 28, 1948 — June 4, 2008

Roger Wendell Paulsen was born on August 28, 1948, to parents Wendell (Bud) and Gladys (Arndt) Paulsen at the family home in Prior Township, Big Stone County. He was baptized and confirmed at Holden Lutheran Church of rural Beardsley. He grew up on his parent's farm, attended and graduated from Clinton High School in 1966. After high school, Roger attended Canby Area VoTech school for agronomy. Upon graduating from Canby he worked for Pat Daly of Ortonville, applying chemicals to crops and then began farming with his father. On September 27, 1969, Roger and Diana (Eastman) were united in marriage at Holden Lutheran Church. The couple made their home on the old Ed Schlimme farm, 8 miles west of Clinton and lived there for 39 years. They were blessed with 4 children. Roger was a member of the Holden Church Board for a number of years. Roger loved farming and continued to do so until health issues made it impossible to continue in 2000. Hunting for deer and pheasants with his family, playing horse shoes during family get-togethers, golfing, riding snowmobile in the winter, his Harley motorcycle in the summer and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren were all the things he enjoyed during his life.

Roger was called Home on June 4, 2008, surrounded by his family at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Roger is survived by his wife Diana of Clinton; children, Troy (Jennifer) of St. Cloud, MN, Wendi (Chad) Pistorius of Browns Valley, MN, Kimberly of Clinton, and Casey (Courtney) of New Hope, MN; grandchildren Brennan and Dylan Paulsen, Mariah, Carter and Grayson Pistorius, Keane, Hunter and Mataiah Turner, Alexandra and Owen Paulsen; mother, Gladys Paulsen of Ortonville, MN; sisters, Patricia (Leroy) Hamann of Ortonville, MN, Paulette (Dennis) Bakeberg of Blaine, MN, Jeanette (Randy) Polhamus of Kirkland, WA; brother, Ricky (Sandy) Paulsen of Clinton, MN; many other family and friends.
