Raymond Maine

Raymond Maine was born on March 25, 1938, to parents, John Henry and Eva Ruth (Manchester) Maine, in Leon, IA. As a young boy the family moved to Omaha, NE, where Ray attended school and graduated from Omaha High School. Following graduation Ray enlisted in the Air Force and joined the academy.



In 1959, Ray met Bertha Wildeboer in Omaha, NE. In November of 1960, Ray and Bertha were married at the Christian Reform Church parsonage in Bemis, SD. To this union, six children were born; Diane, David, Donna, Debra, Darcy, and Dale. The family made their home in Omaha, NE, while Ray worked for area farmers as a farm hand. Ray then moved the family to Ortonville where they have lived for nearly 40 years.



Ray worked as a welder for many years for before getting interested in Trucking. Ray loved the open road and the time he spent behind the wheel. He drove milk truck locally before going to work for Hedge & Herberg where he spent 10 years before failing health prevented him from driving. In his spare time, Ray enjoyed doing carpentry and woodwork. He treasured the time he spent with Bertha, his children, grandchildren, and friends and had many good laughs and conversations with his coffee group.



Ray passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at the Northridge Residence in Ortonville, MN reaching the age of 67. Ray is preceded in death by his parents, John and Eva; a son, David; one sister, Mary Maxine Bradley; his father-in-law, William Wildeboer; and a son-in-law, Roger Jankord.



Ray is survived by his wife Bertha Maine of Ortonville, MN; his children, Diane (Morris) Van Lith of Milbank, SD; Donna (Karl) Alberts of Aberdeen, SD; Debra Jankord of Sauk Centre, MN; Darcy (Alan) Larson of Osakis, MN; and Dale (Angela) Maine of Lakefield, MN; Twelve Grandchildren; two sisters, Deana Andrews of Ortonville, MN; and Freda Robertson of Raymond, MN; his mother-in-law, Florence Wildeboer of Goodwin, SD; many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
