Ralph Andrews

Ralph Andrews the son of William and Annie (Norenberg) Andrews was born April 5, 1924 in Moonshine Township, Big Stone County. He was raised north of Johnson, Minnesota baptized and confirmed at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church out of Johnson. Ralph was united in marriage to Mildred Skoog May 5, 1945 at Elim Lutheran parsonage in Clinton. They made their home in Johnson, Minnesota. They were blessed with five children Dianne, Karen, James, Joanne and John. He owned and operated the “Johnson Feed Mill” which he started September 24, 1946 and employed several of his brothers which he ran until September 1969 (the Feed Mill burnt down April 18, 1974). He started farming and feeding cattle until his retirement in the late 80’s. Ralph served as mayor of Johnson for many years.

Ralph was a life time member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church out of Johnson. He enjoyed driving around checking crops, going to cattle sales, pheasant hunting, and traveling. He and Mildred attended and hosted house parties and card parties. Ralph enjoyed his family and friends.



He is survived by daughters, Dianne (Glen) Reil of Howard Lake, MN, Karen Farley of San Marcos, CA, Joanne (Jim) Leuthardt of St. Joseph; sons, James (Mary) of Big Stone City, SD, John (Madonna) of Johnson; sisters Iona Becthold of Vacaville, CA, Elrine Bennett of Grass Valley, CA; brothers Arlo of Graceville, MN, and Jerry of Delano, MN; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and Ralph’s special friend Mary Zeltwanger.

He is preceded in death by parents; wife, Mildred; grandson, Brian Reil; granddaughter Julianna Farley; brothers, Elmer, Roy and Lyle; sisters Janet DuBeau, Louise Winter, Ruby Parkins and Erma Petersdorf; and daughter-in-law Colleen Andrews.
