Quentin Reisdorph

Quentin Theodore Reisdorph was born on May 3, 1924 to parents Delbert and Mabel (Billings) Reisdorph in Windom, MN. He was baptized on May 16, 1937 at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Windom, MN by Rev. Fred M. Smith. Quentin attended school in Windom and Ortonville, graduating from Ortonville High School.



In 1944, Quentin was drafted into the military where he served in the 276th Infantry Regiment, 70th Division as a rifleman through the Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns. He subsequently served in Germany as an instructor in the 30th Infantry Regiment I. and E. School. Quentin conducted classes of twenty-five men daily and gave instruction in development and handling of dairy herds and methods used in dairy farming. Quentin also conducted classes for men teaching them to drive vehicles, rules of the road, and gave driver’s tests. He taught men the fundamentals of servicing and minor maintenance work. He was discharged in 1946.



In 1947, Quentin returned to the Ortonville area, where he took over farming for his grandfather. On August 10, 1952, Quentin was united in Marriage to Gladys Arndt at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ortonville by Rev. O. Truog. To this union, they were blessed with two sons: Ron and Roger. They made their home in Ortonville until moving to a farm, 4 miles north of Ortonville. Gladys passed away on November 11, 1985.



Quentin lived on the farm until 1987, when he moved back into Ortonville. On January 6, 1990, he was united in marriage to Delores Mack, with this union came three step-children: Karin, Tim and Tommy. They made their home in Ortonville. Delores passed away on October 1, 1999.



Quentin was a member of the Big Stone Lake VFW Post #3964 and the Gertje Van Lithe American Legion Post #229. He also enjoyed coin collecting, horses, and reading. Quentin was an avid farmer, still in the tractors and the fields until one year ago.



Quentin died on Friday, November 5, 2010 at the Ortonville Area Health Services in Ortonville, MN. He had lived to reach the age of 86 years.



Quentin in survived by his sons: Ron (Denise) Reisdorph of Ortonville, MN and Roger Reisdorph of Clarissa, MN; step-sons: Tim Mack of Savage, MN and Tom Mack of Big Stone City, SD; step-daughter Karin Mack of Ortonville, MN; grandchildren: Becca Reisdorph of Eden Prairie, MN, Kristen Reisdorph of Sioux Falls, SD, Kelsey Reisdorph of St. Paul, MN, Aaron Reisdorph of Browerville, MN; step-grandchildren Macaela Carder of Toledo, OH, Missi (Keith) Misemer of St. Louis Park, MN, Becky Mack of Big Stone City, SD, Jimmy Mack of Barry, MN, Tommy Mack of Big Stone City, SD, Jody (Dan) Fore of Pillager, MN, Sarah Griffith of Staples, MN, Josh Griffith of Pillager, MN; step-great-grandchildren: Arianna and Erica Mack, Ezra and Cassie Hagg and Dalton Griffith; sister Eyvone Spangler of Burnsville, MN; numerous nieces and nephews; and former daughters-in-law Paula Reisdorph and Laurie Reisdorph.



Quentin was preceded in death by parents Delbert and Mabel Reisdorph, brothers: Charles and Jackie Reisdorph, and one sister Joann Saeger.
