Norma Vivian Myli was born on July 28, 1912, in Loma, North Dakota. She was the third child born to Oluf and Anna (Larson) Myli. The Mylis were engaged in farming and they eventually moved the family operation to New London, Minnesota. Norma graduated from New London High School on May 29, 1931. She was selected to speak the Commencement Address on that occasion and she entitled her speech, "Lest We Forget". After graduation, Norma taught rural schools in the New London area. Upon graduation from St. Cloud State Teachers College on June 6, 1940, Norma was employed as a fifth grade teacher for the Beardsley School District.



While in Beardsley, Norma met the love of her life, Edwin "Pite" Lumphrey. They were married on June 6, 1944 at St. Lawrence Church in Minneapolis, MN. Pite and Norma were the loving parents of daughters, Ann (Ralph) Kisor and Carol (Gary) Doschadis and grandparents to Kelli and Sara Doschadis. Norma was a substitute teacher for the Beardsley School District after her marriage and then became partner with Pite in Lumphrey Bros. General Store in Beardsley from 1972 until it?s closing in 1995. On June 5, 1992, Pite passed away and Norma began residence at Grace Home in Graceville, MN on April 19, 1998. There she lived happily in the company of her dear friends and loving caregivers until the time of her death.



On Tuesday, July 20, 2004, Norma Vivian (Myli) Lumphrey passed away at the Wheaton Community Hospital, reaching the age of 91 years, 11 months, and 22 days.



Survivors include Norma's two daughters, Carol (Gary) Doschadis of Champlin, MN, and Ann (Ralph) Kisor of Eleva, WI; five grandchildren, Kelli Doschadis, Sara Doschadis, Fawn (Jim) Master, Steve (Denise) Kisor, and Trish Kisor; four great grandchildren, Mike & Jake Master, and Amber & Dustin Kisor; one sister, Inez Reitan of Hood River, OR; and many nieces and nephews.



Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin "Pite"; her parents, Oluf and Anna Myli; and two brothers, Floyd Myli and Loren Myli.
