Merlyn Kerstein

November 2, 1931 — December 19, 2010

Merlyn Carl Kerstein, the son of Fred and Hazel (Anderson) Kerstein was born November 2, 1931 in Malta Twp. In Big Stone County. He attended and graduated from Clinton High School with the class of 1949.

He entered the Marines and after an honorable discharge he was employed for a number of years as an electrical technician and TV engineer at Hutchinson, MN, Denver, CO, Redwood City, CA, Sioux Falls S.D, Chamberlain, S.D, Garden City, S.D. In 1991 he returned to Clinton for his retirement years.

He enjoyed reading, fishing and playing cards at the men's club. He also was known for visiting and drinking coffee in the Clinton coffee hangouts.

Merlyn belonged to Elim Lutheran Church in Clinton and the American Legion Canbell William ALP #258 in Clinton, MN.

Merlyn passed away Saturday, December 19, 2010 at the VA Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota, He will be missed by his coffee drinking friends.

He is survived by nieces, Darlene (Lynn) Seppman of Chaska, MN, Diana Nielson of Bloomington, MN; cousins, Robert (Ruth) Kerstein, Connie (Richard) Anderson of Ortonville, MN, Nancy (Jack) Zummack; many relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by, his parents, Fred and Hazel; brothers, Wilfred (Myrna) Kerstein, Ronald; Nephew, Kerry Kerstein.
