He farmed until his retirement in 1996. Some of Marvin's hobbies consisted of hunting and fishing. On April 7th, 2004 Marvin moved into Grace Home in Graceville, MN where he lived until his death.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include three brothers, Edward Bergseth, Homer Bergseth, and Harold (Nora) Bergseth, all from Ortonville, MN; four sisters, Muriel Olson of Alexandria, MN, Hazel Bergseth of Ortonville, MN, Lorraine Bergseth of Ortonville, MN, and Delores Bergseth of Ortonville, MN; one sister-in-law, Arvilla Bergseth of Ortonville, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
