Marlus Olson-Lundborg

A prayer service for former Milbank, SD, resident, Marlus Olson-Lundborg, age 85, of Bismarck, ND, will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2009, at the Emanuel-Patterson Funeral Home in Milbank. The Reverend Keith Smith of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Revillo, SD, will officiate. The organist will be Carol Ydstie and music will be sung by Cleon Tilbury and Sonja Lein, Marlus' nephew and niece. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in the Recaboth Cemetery near Revillo, SD. The family requests that memorials be directed to the Recaboth Cemetery.
Marlus died on Tuesday, November 10, 2009, at the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck.
Marlus Theodora Olson was born on August 26, 1924, on the family farm northwest of Albee, SD, to Theodore and Ella (Redepenning) Olson. She was raised there along with one brother and two sisters. She graduated from Revillo High School in 1942 and attended Nettleton Commercial College in Sioux Falls, SD.
She had many jobs over the years but was very fond of her twenty years as a secretary at Rausch Bros. in Ortonville, MN.
She was always active in church and taught Sunday school through the years. She has been a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Revillo, SD, Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown, SD, and the American Lutheran Church in Milbank.
Marlus' devoted passion for taking care of her children was amazing and it still seems a mystery as to how she got all of us through everything. Her presence and her smile made life easier for everyone around her. She loved going to church, singing, dancing, and embroidering. She always had something beautiful to share. She was a great cook and made everything look so easy. We will miss her love, her kindness, and her gentle nature.
Survivors include her children: Robert Olson and wife Doreen, Austin TX; Richard Olson and wife Eileen, Severance, CO; Nancy Hemingson, Eunice, NM; Mary Olson, Twin Falls, ID; Ann Breitag, Vermillion, SD; Tom Olson, Tea, SD; Jane Ofstedal and husband Jeff, Bottineau, ND; David Olson, Milbank, SD; and Sue Olson, Denver, CO; twenty-three grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren; her sister Ruth Tilbury and husband Warren "Gundy", rural Marietta, MN; and loving nieces and nephews.
Marlus was preceded in death by her first born daughter, Ruth Ann; two husbands, Glenn Olson and John Lundborg; her brother Harvey and her sister Evelyn (Selmer) Anderson.
