Marjorie Hegge

May 20, 1917 — December 25, 2009

Marjorie was born to Emil and Emma (Jacobson) Eastman on May 20, 1917 in Big Stone County. She graduated from high school in Clinton, MN and then attended school in Ortonville for an additional year. Marjorie was united in marriage to Gordon Hegge on July 21, 1939. To this union, they were blessed with a family of ten children.



During her lifetime, she always raised huge gardens to help feed her family and was a wonderful cook. She also enjoyed fishing with her husband and friends. Another of her hobbies was crocheting; during her later years, she crocheted a full size afghan for each child, grandchild, great-grandchild and each of their spouses. In addition, she also made shawls and lap robes for many of the residents and staff at the Clinton Care Center where she lived. She also crocheted scarves for the Salvation Army Christmas Project. Perhaps her largest project was a 4’ by 6’ rendering of the Lord’s Prayer that hangs in Holden Lutheran Church.



Marjorie also enjoyed movies, watching TV, reading and doing circle-a-word puzzles. She spent the last few years of her life living at her beloved Clinton Care Center where she enjoyed life so much.



Marjorie died on December 25, 2009 at Northridge Residence in Ortonville, MN. She had lived to reach the age of 92 years.



She is survived be her children: Janet (David) Nelson of Clinton, Betty Herberg of Beardsley, Bonnie (Robert) Mowris of Fitchburg, WI, Marcie (John) Herberg of St. Cloud, MN, Cheryl (Ted) Stallman of Nevis, MN, Jerry (Carol) Hegge of Pequat Lakes, MN, Tim (Natty) Hegge of Dilworth, MN, Douglas (Mary) Hegge of Richmond, MN, Mike (Annie) Hegge of Marion, TX; daughter-in-law Doris Hegge of Mullin, SC; 27 grandchildren; 55 Great-grandchildren; and 2 Great-great-grandchildren.



She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Gordon; son John; son-in-law Lloyd; infant granddaughter Lisa; three sisters; and one brother.
