Marilynn Mielitz

February 4, 1938 — August 8, 2008

Marilynn Lou Mielitz was born February 4, 1938 to Rudulf and Marjorie (Rein) Milbrandt in Ortonville, Minnesota. As a young woman she was baptized and confirmed in the Odessa EUB Church. She attended country school and graduated from Ortonville High School in 1956. She was united in marriage to Donald Duane Mielitz at the Odessa EUB Church on September 28, 1956.

Marilynn was employed at the Ortonville Canning Factory as well as Dr. Watzky’s Eye Clinic until she and Donald started their family and she became a fulltime housewife. Marilynn’s love of cooking and baking was very evident, as you could never stop to visit without having a cup of coffee and perhaps a sample of a new recipe. Marilynn enjoyed gardening and canning many of her garden produce. Flowers, especially irises, were a favorite that could be viewed in her garden. A weekly card game with her friends was an event she wouldn’t miss if at all possible. Marilynn enjoyed playing the piano and was the pianist for the Odessa United Methodist Church for 15 plus years. Other activities Marilynn enjoyed were bible studies, shopping, and spending time with family and friends.

Marilynn passed away unexpectedly at her home Friday morning, August 8, 2008 having reached the age of 70 years.

Marilynn is survived by three sons; Doug (Terry) Mielitz of Big Stone City, SD, Dick (Tammy) Mielitz of Big Stone City, SD, Jay (Myra) Mielitz of Big Stone City, SD; One daughter, Cindy (Tim) Henrich of Bellingham, MN; 12 grandchildren, 2 sisters; Janet (Harold) Hipple of Ortonville, MN, Rosemary (Ron) Pinkert of Milbank, SD and one brother, Rudy Milbrandt of Brandon, SD.
