Marie Dirksen, age 94, passed away April 10, 2013, in Spencer, IA.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 15, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Parkview United Methodist Church in Milbank. Rev. Amy Atkins will officiate and burial will be in the Milbank Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Mundwiler Funeral Home on Sunday from 4 – 6 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday morning at the church, one hour prior to the services.

Casket bearers will be: Mike Dirksen, Daron Bear, Larry Bear, Gary Andvik, Larry Tietjen, and Jim Hanson. Honorary bearers will be Marie's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The vocalist will be Larry Tietjen.

Marie (Conraads) Dirksen was born February 9, 1919, in Big Stone City, SD. She was the daughter of John and Lena (Julius) Conraads. She was baptized on May 1, 1933, at the Evangelical Church in Big Stone City.

Marie was united in marriage with Arthur Dirksen on March 4, 1945, in Milbank, SD. Marie farmed with her family near Big Stone City prior to her marriage. Following marriage, Marie and Arthur farmed together near Wilmot. They retired and moved into Wilmot, and later moved to Milbank. They were blessed with two children, Eugene and Joyce. Marie enjoyed ceramics, crocheting and playing cards. She always enjoyed visiting with her many friends, as she truly loved people! She welcomed all with a warm hug and beautiful smile. She treasured precious visits from family and friends. She also enjoyed playing cards at the Senior Citizen Center in Milbank. She was a faithful member of Parkview United Methodist Church. Arthur passed away on August 25, 1995. Marie moved to Spencer, IA in later years.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Eugene (Devada) Dirksen of Spencer, IA; Joyce Bear of Stockholm, SD; 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; one sister Grace Birkholz of Shakopee, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lena Conraads; husband, Arthur; son-in-law, Steve Bear; two sisters and five brothers.
