Marian Randall

November 6, 1911 — September 8, 2007

Marian Cecelia Ziemer was born on a farm near Kiester, Minnesota on November 6, 1911 to parents William and Emma (Linke) Ziemer. When she was eight years old she moved to a farm south of Browns Valley with her parents in March 1920. She attended grade school at Becker Township #4 and graduated from Browns Valley in 1929. She spent one year at Teachers Normal College in Moorhead, Minnesota. She taught country school one year near Chokio, Minnesota. She married Everett "Moose" Randall on October 23, 1935 in Browns Valley and lived there throughout her life. To this union was born Cletus (deceased), Everett Jr., William and Wayne. Everett Sr. died on October 5, 1966.

She was a member of the United Methodist Presbyterian Church and was a faithful officer in many capacities within the church. She was a fifty year plus member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She served on the Browns Valley city council for eight years and was the first woman mayor of Browns Valley, serving a fifteen month term. She was a former member of the Interlochen Study Club, two bridge clubs, numerous bowling teams and was very active in the Alumni Association. She enjoyed quilt making and other handiwork plus baking and cooking. Marian was especially known for her pies, English toffee, cookies and divinity. Everything she cooked or baked was filled with her love for the recipient. For many years, relatives and friends were recipients of a steamed plum pudding at Christmas time, and cookies, candies, pies and pickles throughout the year. Many unmarried faculty members found "a home away from home" in the Randall household for many years. She delighted in having the house full of family and friends at the holidays. Marian's generous and loving spirit will be missed by all those whom she touched.
