Luella Klepel

October 7, 1909 — September 7, 2004

Luella was born at home on October 07, 1909 in the Village of Twin Brooks, Grant County, South Dakota to the parents of George and Clara (Moede) Macheledt. The family later moved to Danube, MN where Luella attended public elementary school. After moving to Ortonville, she then continued her education in Big Stone County School District #48.



On Friday, December 05, 1930, Luella was united in marriage to Edward Klepel at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Odessa, MN. The couple moved onto a farm northeast of Odessa where they started their family of three children, Arlene, Arlo, and Daryl. After farming and raising their children, they moved to Ortonville, MN in 1984. On July 31, 2000 Luella went into the Northridge Residence Nursing Home.



On Tuesday, September 07, 2004, in the Ortonville Hospital, Luella was called home to her heavenly home.



Luella enjoyed gardening, fishing and baking. Her hobbies included coffee parties, crocheting and making quilts.



Luella wanted her family to remember her as a faithful housewife. The love of her life was her family and friends.



Luella was preceded in death by her parents George and Clara; her husband Edward; one daughter, Arlene Novak; three brothers, Earl, Elmer and Harvey; and one brother-in-law Iver Anderson.



Survivors include two sons, Arlo Klapel of Ortonville, MN and Daryl (Ladonna) Klapel of Ortonville, MN; one sister Ina Anderson of Portland, OR; four grandchildren, James (Sandy) Novak, Darold (Dorothy) Novak, Donald Klapel, and Denise (Eric) Phinney; three great grandchildren, Leah Novak, Ryan Novak, and Connor Phinney; and one son-in-law, Arthur Novak of Ortonville, MN.
