Lucille Grace "Honey" was born on December 24, 1912 to parents, Frank and Annie (Wartenberg) Schuett at home in Odessa, MN. Lucille graduated as Valedictorian from the Odessa High School on June 5, 1931.



On October 1, 1936, Lucille was united in marriage to Glenn Mathews at the Odessa Methodist Church by C.E. Burlkardt. They were married for 61 years prior to the passing of Glenn. Lucille and Glenn owned and operated a hardware store in Odessa, MN for many years. Lucille worked as a nurses' aid caring for many individuals in Big Stone County. She truly enjoyed this in-home care experience. Lucille also assisted the American Cancer Society in one of Big Stone County's first cancer survey programs that lasted for ten years. Lucille and Glenn enjoyed many hobbies during their 61 years of married life, which included taking care of children in the Ortonville area when their parents took extended vacations. She enjoyed her extended family experiences.



Lucille enjoyed many activities during her life; among them were her card clubs, singing in the community, volunteer choirs, knitting, and involvement in the women's club at churches. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends that she socialized with for years in the Ortonville and Odessa area. Lucille moved to St. Cloud, MN in 1999 because of health reasons and greatly missed her home and friends in Ortonville. Prior to her move to St. Cloud, Lucille was a member of the Tabor United Methodist Church where she had been active in the B-Club, choir, and women's club, until the time of her death. She loved working with people and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Lucille was a resident of St. Benedicts Senior Community when she passed away on May 21, 2004 having reached the age of 91 years and five months.



Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Annie Schuett; her husband, Glenn; three sisters, Clara Rothe, Fern Schuett, and Florence Schuett; and one brother, Milton Schuett.



Survivors include her son, Daryl (Kristine) Mathews of St. Cloud, MN; two foster children, Wallace (Renee) Kivisto of Aurora, Il, and Walter Kivisto of Streator, IL; two grandchildren, Chad and Michelle Mathews of St. Cloud, MN; two foster grandchildren, Todd and Troy Kivisto; special nephew Orville (Blanche) Schuett; and many other nieces and nephews.
