Leonard Kallhoff

February 9, 1922 — July 1, 2007

Leonard Wilfred Kallhoff was born on February 9, 1922, in Clearwater, NE, to parents, William and Anna (Venteicher) Kallhoff. As a young boy, he attended country school near Clearwater and Elgin, NE. Leonard served in the United States Army during WWII from October 1942 until his honorable discharge in June 1945. Leonard received the Bronze Star medal, Good Conduct medal, Victory medal and the Purple Heart. After recovering from his war injury, Leonard returned home to Elgin and began farming. He later moved to a farm west of Madison, Minnesota.

While farming near Madison, Leonard met a young gal by the name of Patricia Theusch. On October 15, 1955 Leonard and Patricia were married at St. Michael's in Madison, MN. The couple made their home on a farm near Madison where they were blessed with three boys, Bruce, Kevin, and Randy. In the fall of 1958, the couple moved to a farm north of Graceville, MN, where they welcomed home two daughters, Nancy and Sara. Together Leonard and Patricia raised their family and worked on the farm until their retirement in August of 1989.

Leonard and Pat then moved to a lake home in Alexandria, MN, where Leonard had continued to reside after Patricia's passing in 2001. The lake home provided Leonard many fond memories spent with family and friends. In his young years, Leonard enjoyed fishing and snowmobiling as well as square dancing and bowling. Working with wood was a passion of Leonard's and he cherished quiet time spent working in his shop. He will be truly missed by those that loved him and called him friend.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post #297, and a member of the Forada Lions Club.

Leonard passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2007, at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria, MN, at the age of 85. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Anna; wife, Patricia; son, Kevin; an infant daughter, Theresa; a sister, Irene; and an infant brother Gerald.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Bruce (Kim) Kallhoff, Randy (Monica) Kallhoff; Nancy (Michael) Cox, and Sara (Todd) Wood; five grandchildren, Samantha Kallhoff, Jacqueline Cox, Jonathan Cox, Daniel Cox, and Megan Wood; two brothers, Alvin (Arlene) Kallhoff and Floyd (Phyllis) Kallhoff; two sisters, Delores (Dale) Hill and Evelyn (Wilfred) Arehart; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
