LaVonne Seehafer

July 30, 1939 — August 4, 2010

Funeral services for LaVonne Seehafer, age 71, of Milbank, will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 7th, at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank. The Reverend Robert Gardner will officiate. The organist will be Kristy Tostenson. LaVonne died on August 4th, 2010, at her home.

Family members are asked to meet in the church fellowship hall by 10:00 a.m. Saturday to attend services. Visitation will be at the Emanuel-Patterson Funeral Home of Milbank on Friday from 5-7 p.m. and in the church Saturday one hour before services. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandkids and everyone who had been touched by LaVonne's life. Active pallbearers will be Wayne Dragt, Kenny Dragt, Daryl Dragt, Joe Weisenbach, Richard Bohn, Rick Seehafer, Phil Seehafer, and Donald Sleaper. Burial will be in the Milbank City Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Milbank Area Valley Hospice or to the Milbank Cancer Walk.

LaVonne was born on July 30, 1939, in Milbank to Harry and Viola (Kruger) Bohn.

She attended Kilborn #6 country school and attended Milbank High School for one year. She then worked at Schad's Bakery until the spring 1961.

LaVonne married Alvin (Sam) Seehafer on October 22, 1960, at the Central United Methodist Church in Milbank.
Following marriage, the couple resided in Milbank.

She owned and operated a daycare in her home. She later worked at St. William's Nursing home in Milbank where she provided personal care to the residents and helped her daughter Rhonda in the beauty shop. Before the hospice program began in Milbank, LaVonne would visit and support those who were sick.

She was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank. LaVonne loved to fish and to camp.

One of the biggest and most treasured moments in her life was when she and her husband were honorary chairpersons of the 2010 Cancer Walk in Milbank.

Survivors include her husband Alvin (Sam) Seehafer, Milbank; her five children: Brad Seehafer, Emery, SD; Kevin Seehafer and wife Annie, Eagan, MN; Rod Seehafer, Glenwood, MN; Rhonda Thyne and husband Todd, Corona, SD; and Denice Hooth and husband Shaun, Wilmot, SD; her ten grandchildren: Hannah and Haley Seehafer; Brandon, Brittany, Jesse, Austin, Shelby, and Tanner Hooth; and Isaiah and MyKayla Thyne; her sister, Elnora Keller, Belt, MT; her two brothers, Orval Bohn and wife Doris, Milbank, and Stanley Bohn and wife Pat, Fremont, NE; her sister-in-law, Phyllis Bohn, Mesa, AZ; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her granddaughter Kelly Ann, five sisters, and one brother.
