Funeral Services for LaVonne V. Saulsbury will be held on Monday, October 3, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ortonville. Visitation will be held at the Larson Funeral Home in Ortonville on Sunday, October 2, 2011 from 5-7:00 PM. Pastor Robert Friedrich will be officiating. Pat Kunz will provide music. Burial will be in the Mound Cemetery in Ortonville.
Pallbearers for the service will be Todd Jacobson, Neal Jacobson, Troy Weaver, Eric Weaver, Blair Aasen, and Gary Jacobson.
Honorary Pallbearers are all of her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
LaVonne "Vonnie" Valdene Saulsbury, daughter of Arthur J. Sutherland and Gertrude M. DeKeere, was born on January 5, 1927 in Firstview, CO. She was baptized on May 15, 1927, at the Cheyenne Wells Lutheran Church in Cheyenne Wells, CO by Rev. Bunde Skov. LaVonne was confirmed in 1938 in Write River, SD.
She grew up in the communities of Write River and also Balaton, MN and attended school through the eighth grade. On December 8, 1978 LaVonne married Vernon M. Saulsbury in Webster, SD.
While living in Ortonville, she worked in the Assessor's Office in the Big Stone County Courthouse and also was a cook at the Club 7/75 and the Lagoona Beach Supper Club.
LaVonne was an avid quilter and created quilts for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed flowers and gardening and made jelly and juice. LaVonne was a woman who showed her love through her hands and the things she did. Being a member of the Helping Hands of Trinity Lutheran Church was important to her!
LaVonne passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Northridge Residence in Ortonville. She had lived to reach the age of 84 years.
LaVonne is survived by her children - Kay (Gary) Jacobson of Morris, MN; Bruce (Michele) Weaver of Golden Valley, MN; seven Grandchildren; and eight Great Grandchildren.
LaVonne is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon; her son, Kenneth Weaver; and her brother, Laris Sutherland.
