Kathryn Johnson

June 12, 1912 — November 24, 2004

Kathryn Helen (Kapaun) Johnson was born on June 12, 1912 to parents, Henry and Helen (Dowdle) Kapaun in St. Ignatius, Montana. As a young child the family left Montana and moved to Humbolt, SD, before finally making Ortonville, their home.



Kathryn attended school in Graceville, MN. Following graduation, Kathryn worked as a substitute school teacher in area schools and also as a secretary in an agriculture office. In 1943, Kathryn married Walfred Johnson in Ortonville. To this union two children were born, Bill and James. The family made their home on Big Stone Lake for many years.



Kathryn enjoyed the outdoors and cherished the time she spent gardening and picking apples. She also took pleasure in cooking and canning beets. Kathryn enjoyed spending time with her family and cats.



Kathryn passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2004, at the Grace Home in Graceville. She is survived by her son, Bill and Panda Johnson of Dubois, WY; grandchildren, Bodie Johnson, Katie and Brian Seabolt, and Willie Johnson all of Dubois, WY; great grandchildren, Taryn Seabolt and Warren Johnson, as well as many other relatives and friends.



Kathryn is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walfred; one son, James Johnson; one brother; and three sisters.
