Jan Krause

November 24, 1947 — April 6, 2010

Funeral services for Jan Krause, age 62, of Milbank, will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 9th, at the Tabor United Methodist Church in Big Stone City, SD. The Reverend Beth Conrad will officiate. The organist will be Pat Kunz, and the soloist will be Russ Howard. Jan died on Tuesday, April 6th, at the Milbank Area Hospital-Avera Health.

Family members are asked to meet in the church basement by 10 a.m. Friday to attend services. Visitation will be at the Emanuel-Patterson Funeral Home in Milbank on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and in the church Friday one hour before services. Honorary pallbearers will be Kayla and Ashley Tillma, Kaitlyn Krause, Caitlin and Emily Endrizzi, Heidi Kraft, Savannah and Clay Mork, Jack Linngren, and all of her other former daycare children. Active pallbearers will be Chad Goldsmith, Sioux Falls; Ronnie Krause, Milbank; Jason Krause, Milbank; Jeremy Piatz, Brookings, SD; Jason Hill, Groton, SD; and Joel Hermans, Milbank. Burial will be in the Milbank City Cemetery.

Jan was born on November 24, 1947, at Graceville, MN, to Vernon and Gert (Diers) Goldsmith. She was baptized at First English Lutheran Church in Ortonville, MN, and confirmed at the Tabor United Methodist Church in Big Stone City, SD.

Jan graduated from Big Stone High School in 1966.

Jan married Dennis Krause on December 17, 1972, in Watertown, SD. Following marriage, they lived in Milbank. In 1973 they moved to Twin Brooks where they resided until moving to Big Stone City in 1976. They moved back to Milbank in 1979.

She had worked in the lab at Frigo Cheese Factory in Big Stone City and then owned and operated a daycare in her home in Milbank for the last thirty years.

Jan was a member of the Tabor United Methodist Church in Big Stone City, SD.

She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Jan enjoyed attending her twin sons' wrestling matches and football and baseball games, from their kindergarten through high school years. She also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins, going out to eat, her flowers, and spending time with her family at their cabin on Big Stone Lake.

Jan is survived by her husband, Dennis, Milbank; her daughter, Kris Krause, Minneapolis, MN; her twin sons, Brian and Ryan Krause, both of Milbank; her parents, Vernon and Gert Goldsmith, Big Stone City, SD; two sisters, Pat Delgehausen, Big Stone City, and Mary Piatz, Browns Valley, MN; one brother, Richard Goldsmith and wife Sue, Flandreau, SD; thirteen nieces and nephews: Lori Jutting and husband Darin, Urbandale, IA; Chad Goldsmith and wife Thresa, Sioux Falls, SD; Kelli Goldsmith, Coon Rapids, MN; Heather Piatz, Sioux Falls; Jeremy Piatz, Brookings, SD; Ronnie Krause and Jesse Krause and wife Tara, all of Milbank; Patrick Krause and wife Kayla, Aberdeen, SD; Brad Dorman and Scott Dorman and wife Becky, all of Sioux Falls; Heather Krause, Washington, D.C.; Heidi Kraft and husband Josh, Rapid City, SD; and Jason Krause, Milbank; several great nieces and nephews; one sister-in-law, Carol Dorman and husband Dale, Sioux Falls; and three brothers-in-law, Ron Krause and wife Kim and Gary Krause and friend Gloria Crist, and Tim Krause, all of Milbank.

Jan was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Melvin and Verda Krause; one nephew, Mike Delgehausen; and one brother-in-law, Gordon Delgehausen.
